As part of a new initiative, Commodore Jerry Kedziora asked me to head up a Marketing Group for the Club, quickly dubbed the “Marketing Wizards.”
But first, what is the Marketing Group? We have been requested to assist our existing committee chairs in two important ways: first, to both attract new Members as well as retain current Members; and second, to boost communication efforts with current Members.
Our first effort is to obtain email addresses for all Members’ spouses and partners, so everyone in our Club will receive all e-communications. Second, we will soon send a comprehensive survey to everyone, likely using Survey Monkey.
I’m also working with IT Director Rick Trisco and GM Pat Nora to develop a workable database within our current system to facilitate and capture information that will be valuable in moving our marketing efforts forward. Our goal is to have a united front under one big umbrella, South Shore Yacht Club.
Some things you will see immediately. I recently completed a zip code analysis and determined specific new potential target markets that SSYC may tap into for new membership possibilities. We have already expanded our usage of Social Media, in particular Facebook, and will continue to do so, including targeting specific geographic areas and demographics. Remember to “like” us on Facebook at SSYCMKE.
You will also notice that more of our events will be posted on our website, ssyc.org . We will also be implementing a “Resource Page” in our Members Only section of the website. So, when you’re looking for an electrician, plumber, boat mechanic, attorney, etc., Members will be able to search among our SSYC community for various experts in a field that you may need. You get the idea. People like to do business with people they like and know!
We have implemented a new email “.” This email will be used to capture Member photos and videos that you may take around the Club and at Club activities so we can capture the spirit and culture of SSYC. These pics and photos will be used in marketing efforts for the Club. You will be notified once we get this up and going, and we are hopeful that you’ll tap into your good times at the Club and share them.
And, we have a few graphic designers who have offered their services to help us develop a comprehensive “overall look” for our event announcements
Even though our Wizards have been meeting only a short time, our work is already showing benefits. Stay tuned for more!
