Moving Forward

vince verhasseltThe Entertainment Committee never stops working. We last met Feb. 25. It was a wonderful turnout, and I would like to thank everyone who attended. Our meeting was very productive. We're moving forward into the new year with some cool parties. Here are just a few we've been working on.

Last Saturday night Rick Trisco charmed us with karaoke. He rounded up a number of regular singers who took the stage with high energy, if not angelic voice. It was a riot. As always when we have a special event like this, we welcome members chipping in, and not just with planning. A lot of work goes into setup and teardown of the equipment.

Our next event is the St. Patrick's Day party Saturday March 14, to be held downstairs and with a corned beef and cabbage buffet. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Way and JJ. The music starts at 8 p.m. Just a little background on the band: Bobby Way has been performing professionally for 39 years, while while JJ was the bass player for Booby Vee from the '60s. All and all we are in for a real treat.

Everybody Get DOWWWN!

disco ballAfter St. Pat's, plan on making the spring Disco Party. Throw your bellbottoms in the wash and shine those old elevator shoes. Ladies, bring on the chandelier earrings and the skyscraper heels. But please not SO high that you need to wear a space suit. Mark your calendars for April 11 following the wine tasting. The party blasts off into the stratosphere at 8 p.m. There will be prizes and contests for the best dancers and best costume for both men and women. It's going to be a glittering, righteous night of funk, bump and big hair. Most definitely more info to follow.

Sailing and Racing

SailboatsIf you are interested in sailing, and more specifically racing, there are ample opportunities to join one of our racing fleets, or to crew on one of the boats in those fleets.  The women's fleet races on Mondays, small boats race on Tuesdays.  Big boats race on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  And the double handed fleet races on Fridays.

You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here.  And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.

PowerboatOur power boaters are active fishermen.  An annual fishing contest is held in July.

In addition, our power boaters host a number of events, usually on Thursdays as well as many weekends.
