Heating It Up

george graubnerThe Power Boaters' Valentine’s Dinner and entertainment was fantastic and certainly earned five stars!! Our musical group, SWAY, had everyone up and dancing until 11 p.m. They did an outstanding job! The music selection was varied, and they certainly entertained us. Of course, we have to mention Chef Sam and his crew who once again out did themselves; the food was wonderful. And, a special thanks to the volunteers who decorated the upper level Sam, Lynn, Carol, Donna, Dan and Vince.

The pink and red certainly set the mood for Valentine’s Day. Chris Gribble took some fantastic pictures and you can look at them on line at www.knotjustracing.Smugmug.com. Check out the “recent photos” section. You may download photos and print them out. I will also have them on SSYC’s site as well.

Coming up March 21 - 22 is the Great Gambling Getaway. Thanks to Dave Tucholka and Ken and Sandy Dziubek for putting this event together. Once again, it is SOLD OUT. More scuttlebutt when we return!

Planning is under way for the Power Boaters' wine and bourbon tasting event April 11 starting at 4 and going till 8 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres have always been a highlight of this event, and we look forward to Chef Sam’s creations. We’ll have a cork pull featuring various wines, liquors and cordials. If you want to head downstairs after the wine tasting, the Disco Party will be starting. Consider making a night of it. Plenty of disco partiers will be in costume, but it's not mandatory.

Believe it or not, that brings us to May. If weather cooperates, we’ll be starting our boating season and getting our boats ready to launch. Power Boaters' Thursdays starts out with Spaghetti Night on May 14 followed by the Chili Dump and Flare Shoot on May 28. Lastly our next Power Boaters' meeting is scheduled for March 12 at 7 p.m. We are constantly looking for new volunteers. The meeting is to discuss new upcoming events and the SSYC/LYMA open house. Hope to see you there!

You don’t have to be a Power Boater to participate in our activities or help plan them. All are always welcome. If you have any ideas or want to help, give me a call at (414) 791-8439 or email me at .
