How About Forming an SSYC Dive Group?

By Rich Schifreen

I've been diving for a couple of years. Like many of us, I've tended to think about diving in warm climates with extensive reefs and lots of creatures to see and photograph. Yet - there is also a lot going on in Wisconsin. We buy equipment, attend programs and may even do some diving in Wisconsin lakes. Lake Michigan is full of ship wrecks. And some of us may dive to keep boat bottoms slick and clean.

I was wondering if there might be enough interest at SSYC to form a diving group. Here are some thoughts: The group might focus on learning more about diving in Wisconsin, organizing to get vendor discounts, sharing reviews of local shops, arranging charter dives to Lake Michigan wrecks, vacation dive trips or just getting together to swap photos and stories.

A group might get together in person, be virtual through our own SSYC social media or some combination. It would be our group and it could be whatever we like. If you think this might be something you'd be interested in doing, please send me an e-mail at . Share your ideas - what would you like the group to focus on, in-person and/or social media and whatever else comes to mind. If there is interest, we'll see what we can do!
