Keeping Warm, Looking Ahead
The last couple months have been very busy at South Shore Yacht Club. It started out by watching our Packers play their final games of the season and then into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the football gods were not on our side, and we ended up one win short of the Super Bowl. Although our team lost, SSYC won. With all the well-attended Packer parties, we were much busier than normal for this time of year.
Many of our members volunteered their time to work the South Shore Yacht Club booth at the Milwaukee Boat Show. Vice Commodore Ken Dziubek tells me that our members were enthusiastic recruiters. The Membership Committee will be mailing out around 130 invitations to our upcoming open house, scheduled for Saturday Feb. 28.
During this time of year your directors are very busy planning all the events and activities of the boating season. They will be placed on the website calendar so every member can see what's ahead.
In December, Publications Chair Luke Radomski took on the task of overseeing construction of our new club website. He worked closely with longtime member and web designer Jim Gribble to get it done quickly ahead of our prime recruitment season. Among many other features, it streamlines production of The Compass. You can now submit your articles and photos online at ssyc.org. The click is in the Members Home side menu.
Jim has worked very hard on the issue of user friendliness; and also has taken a fresh approach to how we present ourselves to future members. If you have not yet taken a look at the new website please do. Many of the pictures were taken by Bruce Nason. Bruce has also agreed to help with the editing of The Compass. So next time you see Jim, Bruce or Luke please thank them for all their hard work. Much more on this can be found in Luke's publications report.
We only have 80 days left before the first launch. Be sure to check out the website calendar for all upcoming events and activities.
