Sure it's the middle of winter. But this is also a time when sailors have plenty of ways to look forward to summer and have fun. Maybe you went down to the Strictly Sail Show in Chicago. The Milwaukee Boat Show also is getting under way. And there's always the SSYC Super Bowl Party. Those events are always fun.
However if you are looking to learn something you will want to investigate our Safety at Sea and Wind Forecasting seminars taking place at South Shore Yacht club March 14 - 15. You can register for one or both of these events by visiting ssyc.org and following the front-page link. Or, just click here.
The Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan will also be hosting a Great Lakes Basic Marine Weather Forecasting seminar on February 28. This may be a good primer for the Great Lakes Wind Forecasting - a sailors' workshop being held at SSYC on March 15th.
If you are interested in registering for the Basic Weather seminar in Sheboygan, their link is http://www.seasheboygan.org/event/great-lakes- weather-seminar/. Both the seminars being hosted at SSYC are offering an early-bird discount for registering by Feb. 28 and an additional $10 off for SSYC members who register and pay online. The Safety at Sea course is not required but is strongly recommended for many of the offshore events on our Great Lakes. Both of the seminars are great for anyone wishing to venture around our lakes to ensure preparedness and a safe journey. If you are in that group, we hope to see you there.</
