Gale Tom 2014The Change of Watch Party back on October 11th was a huge success welcoming three new Board members, Vince Verhasselt, Jim Casper, and Dick Olsen.  All new members and officers were sworn in by life member Peter Rieske, who has been doing the honors for over 40 years with only a couple of misses.  Peter’s booming and authoritative voice always makes it seem very official.  Can you tell that Peter is a retired Attorney? Yup!  And of course the dinner created by Chef Sam and Manager Pat Nora was wonderful.  Then we all went down and danced to the great sounds of Hat Trick, a band we’ve had many times and kept the crowd on the dance floor all night.  Commodore Artka with his flag officers all begin their second term in the 102nd year of the Club as we bid adieu to myself, PC Dave Wehnes, and Jerry Rakowski.

This past weekend we celebrated our annual Halloween Party, which was CRAZY as ever.  With a record turnout of wild, weird, and wacky assemblage of costumed characters, it was another fantastic party.  Thanks once again to the tremendous decorating talents of Laura Wehnes, Max Berkowski, and the rest of the Berkowski clan, it was spooky and wonderful.  Scroll down to see members in costume.  If you missed it, you really missed it!  Also, we welcomed back one of our favorite dance Bands “Jamit”, who will be back again on November 15th for the “Bacon Bash”!

This marked my last event as Entertainment Chairman as I leave the BOD after six years. I hand off the microphone to the ever capable Vince Verhasselt our new Director and Entertainment Chair.  Vince has been on my committee for the last 3 years and will do a wonderful job.  I encourage everyone to support Vince and his wife Lynn with his new committee.  Remember, this is YOUR Club.  None of us can do this without the tireless support of our fellow members!

Vince has invited me back to do one more Karaoke and DJ night on Saturday November 22nd.  I’d like to extend a huge Thank You to my Entertainment Committee and all the volunteers who helped make every Theme Party, Pig Roast, Corn Roast, and Pirate Palooza a big success.  It’s been a non-stop party for me!  I'll see you all at the next one!
