Welcome to Fall at the Club. As boating season winds down there are many activities planned at the club. Check out the club calendar.
We had a terrific Sept. meeting. We got the chance to see and hear from some really talented members. Pat Rakowski showed off a quilt she made from T-shirts in memory of Donna Weiler’s daughter. Rosemary Wehnes introduced us to the dulcimer and played it. If you don’t know what a dulcimer is (and most of us didn’t), – google it. Delores Jonas showed off a beautiful quilt and other knit items. Christine Martin had pictures from a recent Disney Cruise she took. Disney cruises aren’t just for children. Jodie Emery played an original song that a friend of hers wrote. Who knew that there were so many talented ladies in our group?
Our next event is “Shipmates Night” – Tuesday Oct. 7th. Please call the club for reservations. Dinner is $12.00. We accept cash or checks – no house charges. If you make a reservation and later cannot keep it, please call to cancel the reservation. The kitchen plans the meals for an exact count. As we have done in the past, bring a pie for dessert. We start the evening with a short business meeting at 6 PM. Come a little early and visit with friends. At 6:30 we invite our Shipmates to come up for dinner. Dinner will be followed our program – “Lights of the Great Lakes”, a Great Lakes Lighthouse slide show presented by Phillip L. Block.
Looking ahead, we have elections in November and our Christmas Party in December.
If you are interested in sailing, and more specifically racing, there are ample opportunities to join one of our racing fleets, or to crew on one of the boats in those fleets. The women's fleet races on Mondays, small boats race on Tuesdays. Big boats race on Wednesdays and Saturdays. And the double handed fleet races on Fridays.
You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here. And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.
SSYC offers sailing lessons and a year-round program for children ages 8 - 18. We offer a six-week series of lessons in Opti's, 420's and Lasers. Our juniors attend a number of regattas throughout the summer, and host one of thelargest regattas on Lake Michigan, the Kaszube Cup.
Click here to learn more about the Junior program, and here to find out more about the Kaszube Cup regatta.
The restaurant is open every Friday for lunch and dinner.
The Entertainment Committee hosts various parties, including:

Review of the Fleet
Change of Watch
New Year's Eve
and many other, less formal, events throughout the year.
