The summer is rapidly coming to a close for this year. Some say that we never did get the warm summer weather we deserved after such a long winter season. Even with the cold and windy days this year we were able to enjoy many of the events our club had to offer this past month.
I want to thank everyone who attended the popular corn roast and the Pirate Palooza. The weather did cooperate for both events and from the reports I received, everyone had a very enjoyable time.
The Big Brothers and Big Sisters boat ride and picnic was held on August 23rd. We had a record number of members volunteer their boats and time for this event. Because of this, we were able to invite 123 children and their mentors to enjoy the day on the water.
I would like to remind everyone that there will be a public information meeting regarding the South Shore Park renovation project. The meeting will be held at the South Shore Park Pavilion on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.
At the September 18th general membership meeting, the annual election of officers and directors will be held. This is your chance to choose the candidate you want to see represent the members of our club. In order to make your vote count you must attend the meeting.
The accounting firm of Ritz-Holman has completed their testing and review of our accounting procedures. Jane Durment, our Chair of the Audit Committee, will report the results to the membership at the September 18th general membership meeting.
The summer is not over as of yet, so let’s enjoy the rest of the summer. There are many upcoming events so please check the clubs website for more information.
