We are in the most active time of summer and the weather has been getting warmer every day. In late June we started with the successful running of the Queen’s Cup race to Muskegon Michigan. There were many people praying to the sailing gods to take away the fog that was lingering around the shore for a better part of a week. As the day of the race arrived the fog disappeared and we were able to start the race. The fleet of 145 boats started at a slow pace but the winds arrived and it turned out to be one of the quickest finishes in history. I want to thank Pete Engel and all of the volunteers from South Shore Yacht Club and Muskegon Yacht Club who helped make this event successful.
The fun continued with the South Shore Yacht Club/LMYA Open House and then followed up with the very popular Kaszube Cup. As you can see our members and all of the yacht club staff have worked very hard in the past several weeks to make all of these events successful.
There are more events scheduled for the rest of the boating season so please check your e-mail and the club calendar for the dates. The summer won't last long so enjoy the many events the club has to offer.
The club continues to be very busy during the week and weekends. Over the past month we were having a few issues with members parking in assigned Dry Sail parking spaces. Please follow the club rules on parking within the fenced in area. If you at leaving on a long trip, please contact the office to notify them how long your vehicle will be parked. You should also leave a set of keys with the office in case your vehicle has to be moved.
As the boating season continues please have a safe and enjoyable summer.
