Gale Tom 2014Well we’re half way through the summer and the fun continues!  The Queen’s Cup Party lived up to its usual hype with great food and music by Our House.  As I often say, when the dance floor is crowded all night, you know you have a great band. Even on a fog shrouded night, everyone had a great time, perhaps the many glasses of free Mt. Gay helped keep spirits up.  I’m just say’in…

Has it seemed like we’ve had more live music at the Club lately?  Well we have.  Pat and I have been putting an extra band a month into the schedule.  It seems that when we have entertainment, the bar fills up.  When we have nothing going on, we’ll do $500 to $700.  When we have Karaoke or Live music, we’ll do $2,500 to $3,000. So, "laissez les bon temps rouler" (pronounced "Lay-say le bon tom roo-lay") which means "let the good times roll." Now you know.  With that said, we’ve scheduled a very popular band “New Review” for next Saturday night, July 26th 8 ‘til midnight, along with some great sandwich specials.  Bring your friends!!

The next big event is the SSYC Annual Corn Roast scheduled for Saturday August 9th 5pm to 8pm.

$13 in advance $15 at the door for all the corn, brats and Italian sausage you can eat and $2 beers. Music will be provided by one of our favorite bands “Ain’t Misbehavin”, 6 ‘til 10pm.

Now, we always need lots of volunteers for this event (which we always get) so please send me an e-mail  of when you’d like to work.

The following Saturday the now very popular and kid friendly “Pirate Palooza”. Real pirates, sword fights, cannon battles, and lots of games for kids all starting in the afternoon.  It’s all followed by a “Pirate Buffett” and live music for the adults starting at 7 and going to 11pm.  The band is “South of Disorder”, all Jimmy Buffett and “Beach” music.  You’re gonna love these guys!!

So with all this fun at SSYC, when was the last time you brought in a new member?  The Club works best and is the most fun when membership is at its peak.  So do YOUR part and invite someone down to join the Club.  If you like it here, why not share the experience?  Remember one third of our members don’t own boats; invite your neighbors along so they can see how much fun it is to be a “Yachty”.
