graubner george 2014Our Thursday Power Boater nights are in full swing.   On May 29th we had our Chile night and flare shoot and the name reflect the evening, CHILI.  Thanks to Craig Lake, Jim & Trish Allen, and Pam Swingle.  The next event was The Caribbean night which was a great success with well over 60 individuals served and income for the club and Power Boaters.  Our Thanks to the hosts for this event: Donna & Dan Danowski and Lynn & Vince Verhasselt.  The outside bar manned by the SSYC bar crew served a lot of Caribbean drinks, and again this was successful.  This will be another do over for next year.

July 3rd we are having a Thursday night Picnic before the fireworks, which will be a prelude to the SSYC/LMYA open House festivities. Our hosts for this event are Lynn and Wayne Happel.  We will be offering a small steak sandwich  and the trimmings for $12.00. Power Boaters grill team will grill or one can grill their own.  July 16h there will be a Power Boater Cruise to Discovery World to listen to the Lakefront concert.  This will be a Wednesday event, something new.  We are looking for volunteer boats to transport folks to the concert.  July 31st we have another Power boater’s Thursday our hosts here are Mary & Russ Berg, and Sue & Leo Wagner.  The theme at this point is a Margarita night.  August 7th we will have Power Boater’s Brown Bag and August 21, Power Boater “Movie night under the tent”.

We are working on the SSYC/LMYA open house, July 4th-6th.  Rachel Bach is lining up and calling volunteers for the ICE CREAM BUCKET sales.  We have a combination Gas Grill with Smoker, a 32” TV, and wine and liquor baskets. This will be a raffle in conjunction with the Junior Foundation, supporting the Big Brothers/Big Sisters event.   Doug Reading has sent out notices regarding tables for the Flea Market, and we have Mary Berg and Sue Wagner working the Auction.  Roger Tolfa will be our Auctioneer.    We have a few other surprises in store that we are working on.  Again we will have our infamous “Ham Scrambler Breakfast”, $7.50, and lunch we will be offering grilled chicken breasts, $7.50.   In the Evening we will again have the SSYC steak dinner, $28.00.  Friday night we will have Karaoke, and on Saturday our band will be, “Off the Record”.

As always, we are always looking for help for these events, and good weather.

Please review the SSYC calendar for the upcoming events, or changes in event dates and times.
