C-dock is our first dock to get extended dock boards to accommodate dock boxes on all slips. Please, when you install your dock boxes, be sure no part of the box (including the cover) protrudes into the main walkway. Also, any other accessories such as hose reels, cord reels, and the like shall be mounted so they also are not attached to the main dock walkway. They need to be mounted off your finger pier or on brackets off the main walkway. This will insure a safe environment, free of trip hazards for our members and guests. Following the above guidelines will assist the many volunteers who maintain the slips do their job more efficiently and keep our insurance rates at the lowest possible cost.
The winter has done some damage to finger and center pilings. Barring a complete rebuild of the slips, there are not many options available to the club without closing an entire dock. The committee will be adding reinforcing welds to the most effected pilings to insure safety.
Beginning next season, no encroachments on the walkways by dock boxes or other attachments will be tolerated. Violators will be informed and given the option to remove the offending item. If it is not removed in a reasonable time period the committee will remove the item and the slip lessee will be subject to a fine. As a reminder, this is the last year metal dock boxes will be allowed. Also, boxes over six feet may only be allowed by the permission of the committee and may require additional brackets to support the weight. Any additional brackets required will be charged an additional fee for installation. When replacing your box a standard 2x4 or 2x6 fiberglass box is preferred.
The slip committee has been installing new metal dock box brackets as we receive requests. This process has been very inefficient. As a result, the committee has decided to install new brackets one dock at a time. Beginning with B-dock, brackets will be installed at every slip. There will be a 100.00 dollar assessment billed to each slip lessee. Installation is, unfortunately, not optional and is in keeping with the board’s decision to keep our docks safe and our insurance rates at a minimum.
If you are experiencing any difficulties with utilities on the dock or observe a safety hazard on the grounds please inform the dockmaster, who will pass the information on to the appropriate committee.
