Artka George 2014The snow and cold weather continues to batter our area. By now most of us have had enough of this weather. Well, there is a bright side to everything. I have checked the monthly water level reports for Lake Michigan and our lake water level is around 13 inches above this time last year. Predictions state that the water level will not go down but continue to rise into 2014. The extreme cold is freezing Lake Michigan and in turn it is slowing down the evaporation of the water.

While spending more time at our Club, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand how generous our members are. This generosity comes in many forms. Some members volunteer their time to help the club by serving on a committee or on the Board of Directors. Still others spend time working on a work party and in some cases members support the club by donating money. Well, we have a member who has supported our Club with a generous donation. This isn't the first time that the member has donated to the club, so I want to thank that member from the bottom of my heart for the donation. This donation will be used to install a handicap door opener at the front entrance of our building.

South Shore Yacht Club continues to have activities throughout the winter and spring. Directors and their committee members have work hard to coordinate and manage every event. Be sure to check out our website for the upcoming events. Thank you again to all that help out and come down to our Club.

See you at the Club!

You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here.  And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.

In addition, our power boaters host a number of events, usually on Thursdays as well as many weekends.
