Since my last article, the Power Boaters hosted two successful events. February 2nd, the Power Boater’s sponsored the Super Bowl Party and the Power Boater’s Valentine Brunch was held on February 16th.
New this year, the Super Bowl Party had a number of pre-game activities including Trivia, which tested your football IQ, word scrambles and more. Of course, there were opportunities to win numerous prizes ranging from various gift certificates, shirts, hats, wine, and a dinner certificate from SSYC to mention a few. We also had the “Junior Raffle” and the big winner was John Kohlberg winning the 32 inch color TV. Although the Packers were not in the Super Bowl, and it was a blow out game, everyone had an enjoyable evening. Of course, the food was plentiful with Italian sausage sandwiches and all brought a dish to pass.
Thanks to all for making this a fun party! A special thanks to all that helped with the event, Doug & Pam Reading, Steve & Betty Belview, Ricki Warning, Scott & Barb Burke, Lynn & Vince Verhasselt, Charlie & Nancy Oldroyd , Pam Swingle and Sam Graubner.
The annual Power Boater’s Valentine Brunch was a huge success and SSYC Volunteers served 112 folks. The food was delicious and the favorites seemed to be Shrimp & Chef Sam’s Cream Brule Oatmeal. Personally, I thought the Ham was terrific, scrambled eggs and omelets made to order were to die for. Ladies in attendance received a gorgeous long stemmed rose. A new addition to this event this year was the opportunity to have a “Sweetheart” photo taken. The Power Boaters Committee requested assistance from the SSYC’s Junior’s and they assisted by creating a Valentine backdrop.
Our photographer was Katie Berg, and we certainly want to thank her for donating her time and talent! The photos are great and you can view them at, katebergphoto.zenfolio.com/ssyc-valentine-brunch. Thanks to all that had their photos taken and donating for the benefit of the Junior’s. They collected $125.00. It was a great cooperative venture and we had over 24 volunteers that made this a Super success! Special thanks to Jim and Sally Mergener for coordinating the helpers and Sam Graubner for decorations and photo idea! Mark your calendars now for next year, February 15th! We have some new ideas we’d like to work on and are sure they will be a hit!
Fast approaching is the Power Boater’s sponsored Gambling Get Away Weekend… March 22nd and 23rd, which is now Sold Out. This is always a great time and Dave & Nancy Tucholka , Ken & Sandy Dziubek, and Jim & Sandy Doyle, who do a great job of coordinating this fun weekend. I’m told the movie on the way home will keep everyone awake!
If you’re a wine lover or want to start learning more about different wines and what to pair them with, don’t miss the Wine Tasting event on April 12th. I’ll have more details in the next newsletter. And, believe it or not, Spring is coming and back by popular demand, starting in May…Power Boater’s Thursdays. The first event is May 15th which is the flare shoot/chili dump, and May 29th is Spaghetti night.
We are in the pre-planning stages of the Great SSYC/LMYA open house July 3-6th. If you have new ideas for this event, we’d love to add some “New” or “Adjusted” ideas.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the many upcoming events. If you are interested in helping on one of the upcoming events or if you’d like to plan a new one, call George Graubner, 414-791-8439 or email: .
