graubner george 2014January has been a busy month finalizing events and finding volunteers to help with over 20 events planned for 2014.  Over 70 calls have been made to the new members to talk with them about the Power Boaters Events and inviting them to attend the January 9th planning meeting.   Our efforts were well worth it, as we had over 25 members in attendance at our meeting.  And, most important, new members signed on to work on the various events planned. I’m sure they will enjoy working on the events and getting to know those that have continuously stepped up and helped during the years.   Thanks to all that are planning to help this year and I look forward to working with you all.

Fast approaching is the Super Bowl Party, February 2nd which is being hosted by the Power Boaters.  The Big Game planning is almost complete with a Junior’s Raffle, Pre-Game Activities, Prizes and of course…Food!  All are asked to bring a dish to pass to add to our menu of Italian Sausage. There will be a small charge, but certainly a good value and hope we’ll have a full house.   Plans are to have plenty of seating available upstairs as well.   Come early, get a good seat and before the game you’ll get a chance to partake in some fun-filled games…you might win something!  If you’re at the club during the upcoming week, talk to any of the SSYC bartenders for pre-game raffle tickets.   Costs are 6 tickets for $5.00 and 12 tickets for $10.00.  Items for the raffle include a 32” Color TV, SSYC $50.00 Dinner Gift Certificate, SSYC Fine Apparel, Basket of various wines and more!  This is the party to be at on February 2nd!  Watch your email for more info to come.

The next event you’ll want to attend is the Power Boaters Sweetheart Brunch on Sunday, February 16th.  We have over 20 volunteers working to make this brunch special for our Club Members and guests!  Ask anyone who has attended, they’ll tell you it’s the best!  So don’t miss it!  Prices are being worked on and we’re trying to hold the line from last year @ $14.00 per person. To mention a few, menu choices will include; Omelets, scrambled eggs, various meats, fresh fruit, desserts and maybe Chef Sam’s special Crème Brule Oatmeal.  Other ideas are being formulated, and are sure to delight!  Watch for upcoming emails.

This winter has been snowy and cold, so a Mid March Get-a-Way would be welcoming.  Board a luxury cruiser and join in the fun for the Annual Gambling Get A Way, March 22nd and 23rd!  Sign up now, as this event get’s filled quickly.  $100.00 per person includes: Continental Breakfast, Custom Coach round trip transportation, hotel room at Oneida’s Radisson, Complimentary “Welcome Party” at Purcells Lounge, and the Fun Filled “Hospitality Suite Party at the Radisson (All finger foods and beverages are supplied at this party).   The final trip home usually has a movie to view, beer, soda and a no-cost raffle!  If you have questions about this event, call Dave Tucholka, Ken Dziubek or Jim Doyle, our Expert Gambling Get A Way Event Planners!  Sign up forms are in the SSYC lobby.  But hurry!  No kidding.

We’re in the planning stages of another event which will be held on a Wednesday!  It will be a cruise to Discovery World for an outside concert to enjoy libations, food and good music!  We’ll be looking for boaters to volunteer to take their boats to this event.  Passengers aboard the captain’s boat will help defray the cost of fuel, so a small charge for each person will be asked. Any volunteers to help are welcomed!  Details to come once we know time and date!

We’ve received some good ideas this year and we look to expand on previous great events.  So, if you have any new ideas, suggestions, or want to help, please call me:  414-791-8439 or email me at .
