Dziubek Ken 2014Our membership initiation fee has changed from a discounted $425 fee to the original $850 fee. The Membership Committee has instituted a $100.00 Preseason Food or Beverage Rebate Certificate for any new member that joins from January 1, 2014 to May 1st, 2014. This is the time of the year that you should be   informing your friends and relatives of the benefits of joining SSYC. It may be cold outside but the boating and club spirit is warm in our hearts.

Amount of members as of 11/17/13 to 12/17/2013 are as follows:

 Associate I  11   Life   164  Active  533
 Associate 2  7  Non-resident  102  Life Surving Spouse  37
Surviving Spouse  1  Resigned Active  3

New Life Members: David Guerrero, Robert Helf PC

Deceased Life Members: James Barton, Theodore Crawford

Total Amount of Members: 855

The Membership Committee has been discussing the possibility of allowing spouses of member to attend the general membership meetings. It would allow the spouse to vote if member wouldn’t be able to attend and it would allow both member and spouse to attend the meetings together with only one vote between them. Ballots would be issued by the Sergeant at Arms with only one ballot per membership number. This has been on the back burner for many years and isn’t something new. What are your thoughts???

The Orientation for new members was held on December 11,2013. The orientation was hosted by Barbara Drake and Tom Gale. I was unable to attend because of a previous engagement.  A 102 invitations  were mailed out and we had about 26 attendees.  A common complaint is that the new members aren’t receiving a club handbook. The Membership Committee, the Commodre and Publications Committee are working to resolve this problem.
