Let me take this opportunity to wish all of the members a Happy Holiday Season. I also want to thank all of the slip committee members and volunteers for their dedication and hard work in closing the slips for the season. As part of the shutdown, committee members redecked the unfinished portion of "C" dock.
The entire dock has now been resurfaced. As part of the rehab of "C" Dock, longer boards were installed to facilitate the mounting of tenant's dock boxes out the walkway. In spring when you attach your dock box, it must be attached to these longer boards, and shall be required to not protrude onto the dock proper. Standard four or six foot long fiberglass dock boxes are recommended. Because of weight limitations no steel boxes will be allowed on "C" Dock. A fifty dollar charge will be assessed all "C" dock tenants to offset part of the cost of the longer boards to mount the dock boxes at their slip. I am sure you will agree this is a small price to pay to help insure the safety and enjoyment of members and their guests.
The Slip Committee members installed 28 new steel dock box brackets on slips whose members were the first to request them. The same requirements apply to these newly installed brackets as noted above for "C" dock tenants, namely standard four or six foot long fiberglass dock boxes are the recommendation, also no steel boxes will be permitted on these new brackets. If your fiberglass dock box exceeds six feet contact the slip committee for additional brackets to be installed to properly support your equipment.
As we continue to upgrade the walkways on the rest of the docks, your personnel property will no longer be allow to encroach or be fastened to the main walks. This will help insure the safety of our members and guests and help to keep our insurance rates as low as possible. The lower our fixed costs, the less the club will need to consider raising dues and fees.
Again this year a number of slip tenants failed to properly winterize their slips. As stated in the tenant contract the lessee is responsible to be sure the slip is properly secured. If you failed to complete your slip decommissioning by slip closing as noted in your slip contact and in numerous other communications , you will be receiving a one hundred dollar fine.
New slip contracts will be in the mail shortly. Please note there will be an additional clause that will be included stating the requirements for the Clean Marina Initiative. Please read and initial this clause so SSYC can comply with this new requirement. To renew your slip lease you must be a member in good standing, have your insurance documents , and the Clean Marina Appendix signed and on file in the club office, and all fees paid as required in your lease. Failure to complete these requirements may result in you being denied access to your slip.
To promote the safety and enjoyment of our members and guests, current long range plans call for all main dock walkways to be free of any intrusions. As the remainder of the walkways are repaired and resurfaced please note it will no longer be permitted to have steel dock boxes. If you have one of these steel dock boxes please plan now to replace it with the four or six foot recommended fiberglass boxes.
Plan now for the Annual Slip Change Meeting, which will be January 18th, 2014 at 0800.
Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season.
