Gale Tom 2014Looking back, we have to say the Halloween Party lived up to its hype.  One our top four parties of the year, it was again a wall to wall, fully costumed extravaganza.  Special thanks to Sam and George Graubner, Sharon Gale, Pat Nora, Ken Dziubek, John & Mary Ann Goetzman, Parker and Cara Gaitens, and new members Kristin McCall and Pam Swingle for all their help in decorating.  We lit the Club with “Black Light” and it really created an “eerie” atmosphere, which has given us a couple of ideas for future parties where “glowing white” would inspire some fun environments!  A few pictures below from the “Spooky” party for those of you who missed the event.

Speaking of missing events, we’ve noticed that many spouses of members aren’t on our e-mail list and don’t get the weekly Club e-blasts.  So, if you’re not on our e-mail list, just send your e-mail address to and ask to be added.  We don’t want anyone to miss out on the fun events at SSYC!

Looking at another recent successful event, we have to give a Super “Thank You”, to organizers of the “RETRO Party” last week in the upper dining room attended by over 100 members and guests.  It was the brain child of Donna Danowski and Sam Graubner with special help from their husbands Dan and George and the musical mix of Vince and Lynn Verhasselt. It was a very “Classy” event with generous servings of delicious hors d’oeuvres from Chef Sam and staff.  Martinis and ice cream drinks prepared by bartenders Matt, Natalia, and Ed kept the party ‘well fueled’ all evening!  Great idea and party, look for it to be repeated annually.

Coming up Saturday November 30th is our annual holiday decorating day.  The two pier Christmas trees are built in the morning, headed by past Commodore Gary Mattson. Then at noon, we need lots of ‘helping hands’ to give the Club a holiday look.  Please join us if you can!

karaokeLater that same day, we’re bringing back a Karaoke Night starting at 7pm with some special ‘guest singers’ that will really impress you.  And of course our resident singing sensation Bridget Lenz will be on hand to entertain and help those who need a little ‘assist’ to get through a song.  Manager Pat Nora advises that we’ll have some delicious food for purchase while you warm-up your vocal chords.  Even if you don’t sing, the talent level will certainly impress and entertain you.  Be sure to stop by.

Closing out a fantastic party year will be our annual New Year’s Eve extravaganza.  For the benefit of all of our new members, this is a very dressy party. As we see more and more tuxedos showing up at our parties, this also is a “Black Tie Optional” event.  The evening begins with cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres followed by a sumptuous dinner. After dinner, the party really cranks up with music by “Exhibit A”.  If you can’t join us for dinner, you have to come to listen and dance to this band.  They are FANASTIC!   Reservations are required for the cocktail and dinner portion of the evening, but all are welcome to listen and dance to the band in the lower lounge.

Reservations will open at 9 am Tuesday, December 3rd by phone only, (414-481-2331).  Members ONLY will be able to register for the first two weeks. There is a limit of 120 people.  After two weeks, we will open the reservations to Members guests.  If you are a “single” member, you may register with your guest in the early registration.  Menu and pricing will follow this week.

Our ALL CLUB 2014 planning meeting is scheduled for Tuesday December 10th at 7pm.  The Entertainment, Power Boaters, Sail/Race committees along with Club staff will meet in the upper dining room to plan our 2014 SSYC events.  The goal is to avoid conflicts and insure continuous entertainment throughout the 2014 year.  If you chair or host a special event, you’re welcome to join us that evening.  Nothing happens here at SSYC without your input and support!

The Entertainment Committee also bought a new 50” HD TV for SSYC Members and guests to better enjoy Packer, Badger, and Bucks games! (please get better Aaron Rogers)

See you at the next BIG Party!!

You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here.  And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.
