Well, we always begin our Entertainment Committee Meetings with a review of our last event and in this case it was "Review of the Fleet". So this is easy, because the event was awesome thanks to a wonderful collaboration of people. Not in order of appearance or importance, but I have to compliment Stephanie Fabus for an amazing acapella rendition of the National Anthem. That was followed by a very smart Cannon Salute by SSYC Head Cannoneer Mike Dziubek and Past Commodore Dave Tucholka. Commodore Dave Wehnes headed the Reviewing stand and lead the Salute to the Fleet as each member of the Flotilla passed by the Reviewing Stand. My good friend Reverend Jon Jacobs who is the Senior Pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church blessed the fleet, SSYC, all our members both on and off the water.
The pig roast which was created by Director Luke Radomski four years ago was once again "finger lick'n good". Each of the pork shoulders and the beef brisket is smoked by Luke and company for at least 12 hours prior to coming into our kitchen to be pulled apart and reheated for serving. It's a big process and Luke has it down to a science. We also have to thank Russ Berg, George Graubner and the "Red Aprin" Grill masters for preparing the "Show" pig which also gets slow cooked, carved, and served with the dinner.
Once again we all danced to the music of Du Page, the ultimate party Band! What great evening!
So, don't put away the dancing shoes, there's lot's more music on the way. Thursday June 27th at the Internationally famous Queen's Cup party we've got "Our House". They played at last fall's Halloween Party and everyone loved them! Wireless guitar amps allow the band to "rove" around the party. It's very Cool.
The following Friday at the LMYA open house hosted by the Power Boaters, we've got Karaoke on Friday July 5th and Saturday night a band I found last fall in New Berlin called the "Ricochets" This six piece band met and started playing in the sixties. Now they've reunited and have the sweetest harmonies of the Beatles and other groups of the day you've ever heard. Even if you don't dance, you'll be sorry if you miss this group. They really are amazing!
Please check the Club Calendar for time details of the Queens Cup Party and pricing.
