DziubekKenZONE of SAFETY

The United States Coast Guard will provide a Zone of Safety for the start of the 2013, 75th Queen’s Cup Race to Ludington this year. The purpose of the Zone is to keep spectator boats from entering the Starting Area and causing a conflict with any of the racing yachts. In years past there has been a problem that caused the Race Committee to hail the spectator boats as they buzzed in and out of the yachts that were trying to start the race. The offending boats ignored the radio and verbal hails and thus caused the Race Committee to request a United States Coast Guard presence for this years race. If you a planning to view the start of this year’s race use common boating etiquette. Reduce the speed of your boat as not to create a wake. Stay out of the Starting Line Area. Stay away from the Starting Boat, Line Boat and the Check-In Boat. The Race Committee is really busy at the time of the Start and doesn’t need any distractions that may interfere with their purpose or operations. An incident could spoil the fun of many. So Let’s All Enjoy a Safe Queen’s Cup Start and a Safe Boating Season.
