It's a good Spring for our membership recruiting efforts and I'm hopeful we've turned the corner. At the March Board meeting we brought in a dozen new members and in April the number will be even larger. We definitely are growing. Thanks to all who are making this possible and welcome aboard to all our new members. To those who've been part of the SSYC family for quite awhile a simple request, if you see an unfamiliar face at the restaurant or bar introduce yourself and welcome them to our Club. That's actually one of the comments I hear from new members, that it's taken a couple of years to be made truly welcome, so let's all do our part and live our motto, Milwaukee's Harbor of Hospitality.
We're catching our breath after a very successful prospective Open House. Attendance was down a bit from last year but interest in SSYC membership was greater. We actually signed up several new members at the event and others (who didn't bring a checkbook along) vowed to return and complete an application with a deposit. An interesting note is that several persons said that the reduction of our Initiation Fee to celebrate our centennial played a role in the decision to become a member.
A Membership Committee meeting will be scheduled in the near future (watch the Club calendar) to discuss several other efforts to recruit new members, especially our neighbors in the Bay View community.
