Still haven't contacted the Club office to reserve a photo tile on our Commemorative Photo Tile Mural? Time and tiles have just about run out. There are only a handful of tiles left, the decision was made to limit the number of tiles to 100 to mark 100 years of SSYC. For those of you who have already purchased a tile, Club Photographer Chris Gribble has begun scanning photos for the tiles on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. She will also be available to scan photos on either Saturday or Sunday mornings as well. Chris said that an actual photograph would be preferable to a digital photograph and for the highest quality reproduction the photograph should be commercially printed and not printed on your home printer. Keep in mind that the tiles are square and there is a potential that your image may require some cropping. If there is no alternative other than a digital image it should be an 1800 X 1800 dpi (300 pixels per square inch) for a 6 X 6 inch image. To see examples of photo tiles already created log on to: www.knotjustracingsmugmug.com, then under "Galleries" click on "100 Anniversary Tiles". For answers to specific questions, email Chris at . The committee hasn't decided on a deadline for the submission of photographs but do want to 'work' with members who may need to wait until Spring for their photographs.
Interest is high in the painting of our Clubhouse by Deanna Housfeld; the high quality art prints are available at the Club office for $30. Deanna (and Dan) will be returning from Florida in May, if you'd like to wait until then so that Deanna can sign the print, you should sign a reservation sheet in the Club office. While we can have an ample supply of the prints, we must order 25 at a time so that at some point we may have to cut off the number of prints can be sold.
The first offerings of clothing with the 100th Anniversary logo, designed by member Blanca Abend, are on the way. GM Pat Nora and sub-committee chair Pat Rakowski are planning a variety of merchandise. Kay Putney who spearheaded the art print project is also working on other commemorative merchandise. Watch for announcements in e-blasts and in future issues of the Compass.
I've begun submitting articles and photos to member Ken Quant for our Commemorative Book. As in the seventy-fifth anniversary book we will not have any advertising. The costs of the book production will be accomplished by proceeds of the raffles, photo tiles, art print and merchandise sales and of course donations. At this point we haven't made a pitch for donations; however several members have already made generous contributions to the 100th Anniversary efforts. Thank you very much.
A committee meeting will be scheduled in the near future, watch for the posting on the Club calendar.
