SSYC aerial photo 1200x372

By Bruce Nason, PC

The ground may be covered with snow and the basin iced over (well not at this moment) but that doesn’t stop the goings on at your Club...

Christmas Day saw a packed house for our annual Tom and Jerry get together. Bar Manager Ed with helpers Clare and Curt had their hands full keeping everyone supplied with free Tom and Jerry drinks as well as the usual bar service. The four hour event was filled with holiday well wishes and good cheer.

Another packed Clubhouse on Saturday night January 12 for the Packers game with the 49ers. Even with all the energy we had we could not get a Packers win. A too soon end to a season of over-flow crowds on Packers game days and nights at SSYC. Thanks to all who attended, to the ‘celebrity’ bartenders, to all who brought a dish to pass and of course to GM Pat Nora and Bar Manager Ed Holschuh. Our TVs will now be tuned to college and pro hoops, NASCAR starts in a couple of weeks and soon the Brewers will be back on the field.

I shouldn’t forget to also mention the Super Bowl Party, even though our hearts won’t be in it, GM Pat Nora and Entertainment Chairman Tom Gale have a bunch of great plans for the game.

Do you know of anyone ‘on the fence’ about joining? We’ve now have two huge incentives, there are slips available and at the last General Membership Meeting a By-Law change was approved to reduce the Initiation Fee to $425 through July 31. Skippers it’s time to get your crew (who take advantage of your membership all season long) to step up and join SSYC. We need to grow in this our centennial year.

Have you gotten your new membership ‘key’ card?MemberID The new keyless system will be going into effect soon, don’t be left out in the cold. Check your Weekly Events emails for times of the photo shoots.

You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here.  And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.

PowerboatOur power boaters are active fishermen.  An annual fishing contest is held in July.

In addition, our power boaters host a number of events, usually on Thursdays as well as many weekends.
