Over the last few months, we have been working very hard to install our new card reading system and issue new membership cards. I would like to first thank our members for being so patient with us as we work on getting the new system started.

I would also like to thank everyone involved with this project.

First I need to thank Mike Wiedel. Mike has donated most of the equipment needed for this project. He also donated his time to install the system. Because of Mike's generosity we were able to install a very expensive security system at a very reasonable cost to our club.

Along with Mike I need to thank Jim Peterson, John Archibald, Ken Thompson, Jerry Kedziora, Pat Nora and the entire office staff. These people have worked very hard to get this new system in place.

The new membership card will have several uses. It will identify you as a South Shore Yacht Club member. It will also be your key card to enter the grounds and open the restroom doors after hours. There is a bar code on the back of the card which will be used at a future date when our club system is updated.

One of the key functions of this security system is that we can program when the entrance gate is open or locked. This will take care of our DNR restriction of being open to the public. We are scheduled to start the new security system on February 1, 2013.

E-mails are being sent out as to when members can get their picture taken and receive their new card. Out of state members will be given instructions on how to send a picture so they can receive their cards.

If anyone has any questions about the new system please contact me.
